July 27, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>A week after sacking its ambassador, Uzbekistan has accredited a new envoy in Minsk as the two countries are working to boost trade and bring Uzbek workers to address labor shortages in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador Nuridding Mamazhonov has presented copies of his credentials to Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d, the Belarusian foreign ministry reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to this appointment, Mamazhonov served as deputy head of the Fergana region administration in charge of investment and foreign trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in 1982, he holds degrees from the Global Economy and Diplomacy University of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry and Central Bohemia University. He earned a doctoral degree in business administration from the Prague-based European Institute of Applied Science and Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has served in various positions with the Uzbek ministries of justice and of foreign affairs, the country\u2019s embassy in Germany and the consulate general in Frankfurt am Main.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rakhmatulla Nazarov, his predecessor as ambassador to Belarus, was dismissed on July 22 \u201cbecause of his indifference to issues of investment and foreign trade,\u201d the Uzbek president\u2019s press secretary Sherzod Asadov wrote on Telegram.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Asadov, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed dissatisfaction with Nazarov at a government conference on July 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dismissal of Nazarov, who took office in February 2024, came shortly after Mirziyoyev\u2019s visit to Minsk on July 8 and 9. While meeting with the Uzbek president, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka boasted that the two countries had brought bilateral trade to a record high of nearly $1 billion. Mirziyoyev said the trade had almost tripled over five years and risen by 30 percent since the start of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the talks, \u0141uka\u0161enka revealed that he had invited migrant workers from Uzbekistan to come to Belarus with their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office later said that around 5,000 Uzbek workers are expected to arrive in Belarus\u2019 Viciebsk region to fill jobs in agriculture, construction, industry and the services sector, with some also set to work as nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Belarusians have left Belarus in recent years as its authorities cracked down on political opponents and sided with Russia in its war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
