July 27, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The European Union has been more affected by its own new sanctions than Belarus and Russia, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d said in Minsk on July 27 before a seminar for the heads of Belarus\u2019 foreign diplomatic missions and consulates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith every new package of sanctions, it is the European Union and its citizens who suffer the most,” state media quoted Ry\u017eanko\u016d as saying. “After all, we all see how much the residents of the European Union themselves are suffering from being far from markets, from the absence of our tourists and from the cheap and reliable resources that used to be supplied.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Ry\u017eanko\u016d, the EU\u2019s \u201cthoughtless policy\u201d has confined it within a \u201cvery small territory\u201d as the bloc \u201cisolates itself rather than Belarus and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Belarus continues cooperating with Russia, Eurasia and Africa, he said. “Together, we are shaping Eurasia as a space of stability, security and cooperation as we remove barriers to trade, the movement of goods, services and people and lift visa restrictions,” he added, claiming that sanctions “open up new opportunities for finding other partners.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 23, the Council of the European Union approved its 21st package of sanctions against Russia over its war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the new measures target Belarus as Moscow\u2019s ally. They include restrictions on the Mazyr Oil Refinery and the European Trading Company, which sells Belarusian-refined petroleum products in Russia. The package extends the EU\u2019s transaction ban to 14 crypto-related service platforms, including those based in Belarus, introduces import bans on goods generating significant revenue for Belarus and imposes export restrictions related to the military industry. In particular, the EU expanded the list of goods banned for export to Belarus because they could benefit its defense and security sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
