July 26, <\/strong>Pozirk<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong> The ongoing training camp for territorial defense forces in the Brest region\u2019s Ma\u0142aryta and Drahi\u010dyn districts is expected to culminate in a drill under the supervision of a deputy head of the Brest Regional Executive Committee between July 26 and July 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the defense ministry, participants will practice guarding facilities, enforcing \u201cspecial legal regimes,\u201d fighting sabotage groups, operating and combating drones, and setting up firing positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police, \u201cpeople\u2019s militia\u201d units and other organizations in the district will also take part in the drill, the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 25-day training camp kicked off on July 7. The Ma\u0142aryta and Drahi\u010dyn districts border on Ukraine\u2019s Volyn region and are situated not far from the Polish border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training will focus on territorial defense tasks under martial law, including protecting personnel and facilities from unmanned aerial vehicles, the ministry said on July 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Command staff will rehearse command and control procedures, while conscripts will train for their assigned duties and practice the formation, training and deployment of people\u2019s militia units, the ministry added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Territorial defense troops, an auxiliary part of the Armed Forces, are formed in times of war or military-political tension of reservists with military training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three years ago, Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin announced that territorial defense \u201cis being transformed from a support system into a full-fledged combat one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army has been conducting exercises non-stop amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
