July 20, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Ukraine has established a “kill zone” \u2013 a heavily fortified area \u2013 along its border with Belarus to deter and repel any renewed attack from that direction, the State Border Guard Service said yesterday on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Border guards are preparing for the possibility of an offensive launched from Belarusian territory. Ukrainian intelligence has warned that such a threat exists,” it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Border guards are also reinforcing water defenses, including on the islands of the Dnipro River: the shared border there exceeds 100 kilometers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ukrainian military is monitoring the border using aerial surveillance, including drones, while border guards are equipped with strike drones, the agency said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine has systematically fortified its border with Belarus in recent years. More recently, Ukrainian officials have increasingly warned that Moscow is seeking to draw Minsk directly into the war against Kyiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
