{"id":195274,"date":"2026-07-10T23:24:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T20:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/195274\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T23:26:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T20:26:09","slug":"serbia-has-joined-only-fraction-of-eu-sanctions-against-belarus-vucic-says","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/195274\/","title":{"rendered":"Serbia has joined only fraction of EU sanctions against Belarus, Vu\u010di\u0107 says"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>July 10,&nbsp;<em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>&nbsp;Serbia has not aligned itself with three quarters of the European Union&#8217;s sanctions against Belarus, Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 said in an interview with Pink.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Vu\u010di\u0107, although alignment with the EU&#8217;s sanctions against Russia is the key condition for Serbia&#8217;s accession to the 27-nation bloc, Belgrade has de facto &#8220;imposed none on Belarus.&#8221; &#8220;We didn&#8217;t want to impose sanctions on the Belarusian leadership,&#8221; he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Serbia, a candidate for membership in the European Union, has adopted a number of restrictive measures against Moscow and Minsk over Russia&#8217;s full-scale war against Ukraine but has refused to fully comply with the EU&#8217;s sanctions policy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 was the only European head of state to congratulate Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka on his \u201cvictory\u201d in the 2025 election.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, Vu\u010di\u0107 does not avoid contact with Belarusian pro-democracy forces. At the end of 2024, following his intervention, Serbia released Belarusian dissident filmmaker Andrej Hniot, arrested in Belgrade in October 2023 at the request of Belarusian authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Belarusian embassy in Serbia, trade between the two countries totalled $131.3 million in 2024, with Belarusian exports amounting to $74.2 million and
