July 10, Pozirk. Belarus is developing a military infrastructure in areas bordering on Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said on July 10, citing Ukrainian intelligence sources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese are training grounds, places where personnel or equipment can be kept in the future, and logistical routes,\u201d Demchenko was quoted as saying by Ukrinform. \u201cIn most cases, this is happening in the direction of Chernihiv and Kyiv provinces. This is less noticeable near our western provinces, Volyn and Rivne.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, according to Demchenko, Russia continues to put pressure on Belarus to get it more actively involved in the war against Ukraine. \u201cBelarus is resisting this, trying in every way not to give in to this pressure,\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, the threat to Ukraine as a whole from this direction persists, and our primary task is to build up defense capabilities along the border line and in the border area to be ready for any developments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is impossible for a war to break out instantly from Belarusian territory, Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of the main intelligence directorate at Ukraine\u2019s defense ministry, told apostrophe.ua<\/em> on July 8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russians could deploy their troops to Belarus in about one week, but right now, there are no significant Russian forces in Belarus, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka does not want to be directly involved in the war, and the Belarusian army is not ready for such a scenario, Skibitsky noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Belarus should stop developing an \u201caggressive infrastructure\u201d of roads and storage facilities for ammunition, fuel and lubricants near the Ukrainian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
