July 9, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>There is currently no sharp rise in demand for Belarusian motor fuel among Russian consumers, U\u0142adzimier Siza\u016d, deputy head of Belarus\u2019 state petrochemical monopoly Bie\u0142naftachim, was quoted as saying by Belarusian state media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m constantly in touch with local managers, asking them if there are any issues with queues at filling stations,\u201d he said. \u201cNo instances of panic buying, not typical of the current period, have been observed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Siza\u016d acknowledged a \u201cslight increase in fuel consumption\u201d in areas bordering on Russia but described it as normal for summer, with many people on holiday and harvesting in full swing. He claimed that the rise is causing no inconvenience to consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Widespread motor fuel shortages have been reported across Russia amid Ukrainian drone attacks on its oil refineries. These supply disruptions have led to a buying frenzy and exceptionally long lines at filling stations. Rumors have been circulating that the domestic crunch has forced Russian consumers to look toward neighboring Belarus to help offset the sudden shortage in their energy market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
