{"id":194117,"date":"2026-07-01T12:25:40","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T09:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/194117\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T12:25:41","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T09:25:41","slug":"belarus-charges-german-french-nationals-over-marijuana-possession","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/194117\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus charges German, French nationals over marijuana possession"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>July 1, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian border guards seized marijuana from a 28-year-old German national who was travelling to Belarus by car with his family via the Terespol-Brest checkpoint, the State Border Committee reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During an inspection of the car on June 27, a service dog alerted officers to a bag containing a grinder with marijuana leftovers, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Border guards also seized two e-cigarettes containing a suspicious liquid, believed to be cannabis oil, and a blister pack of pills, which are undergoing forensic analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two days ago, border guards reported a similar incident at the same crossing involving a 22-year-old French national who was travelling by car with his family members from Congo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect reportedly admitted possession and voluntarily handed over a packet of marijuana to officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both foreigners face criminal charges for drug trafficking and remain in custody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus has some of the strictest drug laws in Europe and enforces them rigorously. Foreign nationals have been arrested and prosecuted for possessing even small quantities of controlled substances, including medications or drugs that may be legal, decriminalized, or subject to lighter penalties in other European countries.
