June 29, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) expects Belarus\u2019 GDP to grow by 1.3 percent this year amid the \u201crecovery of investment activity,\u201d the institution says in a weekly report, reiterating its previous forecast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EDB notes that capital expenditures in Belarus had \u201creturned to growth,\u201d increasing by 1.5 percent year-on-year between January and May after a 0.6-percent decline between January and April. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bank links to upward trend to the construction sector\u2019s recovery \u201cto the level of the same period last year.\u201d Simultaneously, investment in equipment continues to rise steadily, increasing by six percent in January-May, the report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, companies\u2019 capital expenditures have been on the rise for the third consecutive month amid government support measures, the EDB says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 22, the Eurasian Development Bank revised its economic growth forecast for Belarus for 2026 from 1.8 percent to 1.3 percent, saying that the growth would be enabled by domestic demand, along with a recovery in investment activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the National Statistics Committee (Bie\u0142stat), Belarus\u2019 GDP rose by 0.9 percent in the first five months after contracting during the first three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Belarus\u2019 economy reportedly grew by 1.3 percent, whereas the government\u2019s target was set at 4.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the government\u2019s Social and Economic Development Forecast for 2026, the nation\u2019s GDP is to grow by 2.8 percent this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Monetary Fund forecast Belarus\u2019 economic growth at 1.4 percent in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
