June 26, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Ukraine has no plans to deploy troops into Belarus if tensions escalate, Yaroslav Chornohor, the Ukrainian foreign ministry\u2019s special envoy for relations with Belarusian pro-democracy forces, told Deutsche Welle<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have no need for foreign territory,\u201d he said. \u201cOur soldiers will remain on the Ukrainian side of the border, while the threat will be neutralized by whatever remote means the military leadership considers necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf anyone thinks that a war between Ukraine and Belarus is what we want, that is not the case,\u201d Chornohor noted. \u201cWe do not want that. But if the situation develops in such a way that a serious threat emerges from Belarusian territory, there will be no repeat of 2022, when the Ukrainian authorities effectively froze the war in the north to concentrate forces in the east and south.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on drone control relay systems in Belarus allegedly used to facilitate Russian attacks on Ukraine, Chornohor said Kyiv had previously destroyed such facilities without publicizing the operations. However, Russia has since reinstalled similar equipment, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomat also clarified that, from a legal standpoint, Kyiv had not issued an ultimatum to Minsk, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky\u2019s June 19 demand that Belarus dismantle the drone control relay systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv will engage with Minsk \u201cboth at the international level and through diplomatic channels\u201d to curb supplies of Belarusian fuel to Russia, Chornohor added. If Belarus continues exporting goods that undermine Ukraine\u2019s defense, Kyiv may resort to targeted strikes on cargo shipments inside Russia using drones and missiles, he hinted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
