June 18, Pozirk. <\/strong>Belarus\u2019 BySol solidarity foundation has collected \u20ac14,190 in a fundraiser for Halina Kazimiro\u016dskaja, the conductor of the famous Volny Chor (Free Choir), a cultural force behind the country\u2019s 2020 pro-democracy uprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fundraiser was launched in May and is expected to conclude by early July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist is currently undergoing chemotherapy, with surgery and further rounds of chemotherapy and radiation therapy ahead. Despite her serious illness, Kazimiro\u016dskaja, who now lives in Warsaw with her children, continues to perform, with two concerts scheduled for June 20 and 27 in the Polish capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kazimiro\u016dskaja runs an art school in Warsaw that she established to rescue fellow artists from \u201cunskilled migrant labor,\u201d while the Volny Chor continues its mission by carrying the voice of Belarusians to various corners of Europe. Despite her heavy workload, the job brought her little income, and before her diagnosis, she survived by giving private vocal lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
