June 14, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has commemorated the mass deportations from the Baltic states in 1941 during the Sovietization of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJune 14 reminds us of one of the darkest crimes of Soviet terror,\u201d he said on X, noting that tens of thousands of people were torn from their homes and deported to Gulags. \u201cWe honor the victims by standing with those who face the same terror today. Russia\u2019s crimes in Ukraine remind us that unpunished evil returns,\u201d the politician stressed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJustice is the only safeguard against its repetition. We must stand firm so tyranny never prevails again,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The June 1941 deportations serve as a warning for today, as Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime is now assisting in the deportation of Ukrainian children, said Vital Ma\u0142\u010dana\u016d, Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s representative in Estonia and Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 14 marks the Day of Mourning and Hope in Lithuania and Estonia and the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Communist Terror in Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
