June 1, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>The dean of one of the faculties at a state agricultural academy has been sentenced to six years in prison and fined 22,500 rubels ($8,150) on bribery charges, the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report mentioned the prosecutor\u2019s office in the Mahilo\u016d region\u2019s Horki districts, which makes it likely that the defendant was employed at the Horki State Agricultural Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other defendant, an unnamed businessman, received a five-year prison sentence and a fine of 13,500 rubels. The court also barred him from holding managerial, administrative or financial positions for one year. However, it suspended the prison term for three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both defendants set up a scheme under which intermediaries were recruited to attract international students to the academy, prosecutors said. The scheme reportedly enabled the defendants to misappropriate more than 320,000 rubels between June 2022 and September 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defendants pleaded guilty and fully compensated the educational institution for the damage caused, according to the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
