{"id":188156,"date":"2026-05-19T18:43:56","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T15:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/188156\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T18:46:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T15:46:52","slug":"tut-by-email-functionality-restricted-five-years-after-crackdown","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/188156\/","title":{"rendered":"Tut.by email functionality restricted five years after crackdown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>May 19, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Email service for the <em>@tut.by<\/em> domain has been significantly restricted, with incoming messages from external providers reportedly failing to deliver and returning \u201caddress not found\u201d errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mailbox interface remains accessible via the Russian <em>Yandex Mail<\/em> system, and existing email archives have been preserved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday, <em>zerkalo.io <\/em>reported that the authorities permanently disabled email accounts on tut.by, timing the move to the fifth anniversary of the portal\u2019s shutdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities crushed&nbsp;<em>tut.by<\/em>, the country\u2019s largest independent news portal, in May 2021. About two years later, editor in chief Maryna Zo\u0142atava and<em> tut.by <\/em>CEO Ludmi\u0142a \u010cekina were given 12 years in prison each on charges widely seen as politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee for State Security also added both women to the list of people involved in \u201cterrorism,\u201d banning them from receiving money transfers in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minsk released Zo\u0142atava last December, following Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s deal with Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A part of the&nbsp;<em>tut.by&nbsp;<\/em>team left Belarus to launch&nbsp;<em>zerkalo.io<\/em>, a news website that largely follows in the footsteps of the original media outlet. Belarus and Russia have blocked access to it. Belarus declared it extremist content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many independent media outlets were branded extremist groups for political reasons in Belarus after the disputed 2020 presidential election.
