May 14, <\/strong>Pozirk<\/strong>.<\/em> Authorities released Siarhiej Adziarycha, the former ideology chief of the state-run news agency BelTA<\/em> persecuted over information leaks to the opposition media, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reports, noting that the man had been released in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later that year, Adziarycha found employment as a taxi driver, it noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In early 2022, a Minsk judge sentenced him to five years in prison for allegedly conspiring with an opposition leader from the Warsaw-based National Anti-Crisis Management (NAM) and for \u201cillegal activities to overthrow the state power in Belarus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police suspected him of being one of the creators of Nick and Mike<\/em> opposition Telegram channel. Investigators said that the leaked BelTA<\/em> information was used to prepare about 60 posts about Alaksandar Luka\u0161enka and other officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adziarycha said during the trial that he had agreed to share information with NAM because he feared that he would be persecuted if the opposition came to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minsk Prosecutor\u2019s Office declared Nick and Mike<\/em> extremist content in late 2021. Four months later, the interior ministry declared the Telegram channel and related social media an extremist group. After the 2020 presidential election, it posted Aliaksandr Luka\u0161enka\u2019s travel schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
