May 8, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The National Anti-Crisis Management (NAM) has published a report on the \u201csystemic destruction of national identity\u201d by  Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Warsaw-based opposition organization unveiled the report on the sidelines of the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors accuse the regime of \u201ceradicating Belarusian culture\u201d and promoting the \u201cRussian World\u201d ideology, which claims that all Russian-speaking or culturally \u201cRussian\u201d people form a single civilizational sphere that Moscow has a right to \u201cprotect\u201d and politically dominate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report warns that the trends in Belarus after \u201cthe rigged 2020 presidential election\u201d mirror those in the Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine. Belarusian national identity is being systematically replaced with the \u201cRussian World narrative\u201d through the prohibition of literature, the closure of independent publishing companies, purges in the cultural sphere, crackdowns on pro-Belarusian interpretation of past and present events and the stifling of the Belarusian language, the report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors say that the campaign is driven by propagandists and the security apparatus acting on tip-offs from \u201cpro-Russian pseudo-activists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Anti-Crisis Management suggests imposing sanctions on individuals spearheading \u201crepression against the Belarusian language, history and culture\u201d and calls on the European Parliament and PACE to adopt resolutions recognizing the problem as \u201cethnocide\u201d and a \u201cthreat to regional security.\u201d It demands sanctions against Russian foundations that finance \u201cRussianization and anti-Belarusian activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors call for establishing a European foundation to support Belarusian culture that would provide grants to independent Belarusian publishing houses, theater companies and musicians in exile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Anti-Crisis Management suggests translating the interfaces of global digital products and services into Belarusian, as well as the large-scale digitization of Belarusian archives, books and museum collections to be stored on secure European servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report suggests developing an EU-accredited distance learning platform for schoolchildren and university students to receive instruction in Belarusian, increasing quotas for Belarusian students and researchers, especially those studying Belarusian philology and history, and financing Belarusian-language courses for emigrants\u2019 children to \u201cprevent their assimilation abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report proposes providing grants for Belarusian language YouTube channels, TikTok bloggers and cultural projects, offering legal and technical assistance to administrators of the Belarusian Wikipedia and creating tools for the safe editing of its articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also proposes ensuring \u201clong-term funding for media using Belarusian as the working language and exposing the processes of Russia\u2019s cultural expansion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
