May 4, Pozirk. <\/strong>Minsk may be ready to exchange Ina Karda\u0161, a suspected Belarusian spy, arrested in Kyiv earlier this year, Ukrinform <\/em>reports, citing Bogdan Okhrimenko, of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere was such a signal, but so far, aside from talks, nothing has happened,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have no interest in holding foreign criminals here or spending budget funds on them at a time when our unlawfully convicted citizens are held behind bars in inhumane conditions. If the communication includes practical proposals, we will consider them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karda\u0161 is suspected of acting as a deeply undercover agent for the Belarusian Committee for State Security (KGB) for more than a decade, and is charged with espionage in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, she was sent from Minsk to work as an agent in Ukraine, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The woman reportedly secured a job at one of Ukraine\u2019s leading media outlets before Russia launched its full-scale war in February 2022. She used her position and professional contacts to expand her network among Ukrainian politicians, military personnel and foreign diplomats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Karda\u0161 assumed a position at the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, where she photographed classified documents and sent them to her presumed KGB handler, according to the case files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In mid-February, the Kyiv Court of Appeals rejected an appeal against her arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
