April 29, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Ukrainian border guards have not observed any movement of equipment or military personnel near the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, Ukrainian border guard spokesman Andriy Demchenko has told ukrinform.net<\/em> in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no troop buildup,\u201d he said, noting that since 2022, Belarus has kept military units stationed in certain border areas with an aim to bolster its own security amid fears of potential action from Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUkraine has never posed a threat to Belarus and has no intention of doing so,\u201d Demchenko stressed. \u201cThese are the same units that were previously deployed along our border. They are undergoing routine rotations and limited movements, but there is no increase in their numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no movement of military equipment in the immediate vicinity of the border,\u201d the official added, describing Belarus\u2019 setting up a Southern Operational Command along the border with Ukraine as part of an information campaign. This may lead to constructions of positions, training grounds and access roads, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia currently does not maintain significant forces in Belarus, such as infantry units that could carry out a repeated invasion from Belarusian territory, Demchenko said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the official warned that provocations cannot be ruled out as Russia could at any moment start moving its forces into Belarus and use Belarusian infrastructure. \u201cIt is also possible that pressure is being exerted on Belarus to provide more extensive support to Russia in the war against our country,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
