April 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Aerial rabies vaccination of wild animals will be conducted in Belarus from April 18 to May 1, the Ministry of Nature and the Environment reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aircraft will disperse 25-gram edible baits across forests, fields and other habitats of wild carnivores. The gray-brown briquettes will contain a vaccine capsule along with fish meal and beef fat to attract animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry warned that the bait must not be handled with bare hands, given to pets or touched by children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residential areas and waterways will not be treated. However, anyone who comes into contact with the vaccine, whether through skin exposure or ingestion, is advised to seek medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Latvia\u2019s Food and Veterinary Service urged residents not to purchase dogs, cats or ferrets in Belarus and Russia after a dog brought from Russia was diagnosed with rabies in Germany, despite having a vaccination certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first eight months of 2025, 169 cases of rabies were reported in Belarus, including 53 among domestic animals. As of last September, Belarus had reported no human rabies cases since 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
