April 9, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Lithuanian warehouses containing emergency reserves of food, fuel and other goods will be relocated outside the border zone with Belarus by 2027, LRT<\/em> reports, citing the Lithuanian National Crisis Management Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vilnius plans to construct two new facilities for the purpose in the central and northern parts of the country. A new \u20ac2.3 million 2,000 square meter state reserve warehouse will be built in \u0160iauliai. The location of the second storage facility has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 60 percent of the stockpiles previously stored near the Belarusian border have reportedly already been moved to other locations. These reserves are intended for use during emergencies or crises, as well as in cases of mobilization or the declaration of emergency or war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late 2025, Vilnius declared an \u201cextreme situation,\u201d a low-level emergency, in response to what it called \u201ca hybrid attack from Belarus,\u201d following mass incursions of cigarette-smuggling weather balloons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
