March 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> US President Donald Trump said he looked forward to meeting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka at the next Board of Peace event, noting that the Belarusian ruler has \u201cgracefully released\u201d more than 500 prisoners since May 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a TruthSocial post, Trump also said that John Coale, US special envoy for Belarus, \u201cgot more than 250 political prisoners freed\u201d after his recent talks with \u0141uka\u0161enka on March 19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the negotiations, \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s press office reported that Washigton had lifted sanctions on Bie\u0142investbank and the Development Bank of Belarus, the finance ministry, Bie\u0142aruskalij and Belarusian Potash Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In mid-February, \u0141uka\u0161enka decided against traveling to Washington for the first meeting of Trump\u2019s Board of Peace because of European air traffic restrictions for Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board of Peace was originally conceived as a mechanism to implement part of the Gaza ceasefire plan. However, Trump and his officials later suggested it would address a broader range of global issues, with the US president saying it has the potential to become \u201cone of the most consequential bodies ever created.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
