March 19,<\/strong> Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>The Belarusian Ministry of Defence has announced the launch of a comprehensive exercise involving troops from the Western Operational Command, which is expected to conclude on March 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drill will take place in the Brest and Minsk regions \u201cat a considerable distance from the state border,\u201d the ministry\u2019s press office noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pavie\u0142 Muraviejka, chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces, described the exercise as a major element in the ongoing combat readiness check, ordered by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka in mid-January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Servicemen will train to prepare defensive lines and fortified positions, making the most of available industrial and logistical infrastructure, he said. The drill will feature the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as electronic and information warfare systems, alongside planned long-range live-fire exercises, the official added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the active phase, mechanized and tank units will train to engage illegal armed groups and enemy reconnaissance and sabotage units, while responding to potential attacks and conducting active maneuvers, Muraviejka said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army is frequently conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
