February 18, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian freestyle skiers have failed to win any medals at the Winter Olympics for the first time since 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanna Hu\u015bkova, the 2018 gold and 2022 silver medalist, finished eighth at the Milano Cortina Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anastasija Andryjanava and Hanna Dziaruha placed 16th and 17th, respectively, and did not advance to the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate event, Viktoryja Safonava failed to qualify for the figure skating final, finishing 26th. Skier Hanna Karalova also completed her performances without winning a medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maryja \u0160kanava placed 43rd out of 95 athletes after her first slalom run on February 18. She was scheduled to take her second run later that day. Maryna Zujeva, a Belarusian speed skater, is set to compete in the women\u2019s mass start on February 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If \u0160kanava and Zujeva fail to win medals \u2014 a prospect viewed with skepticism \u2014 the Belarusian neutral athletes will return home without any medals for the first time since the country gained independence in 1991.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Winter Olympics are being held from February 6 to 22, with eight Belarusian neutral athletes participating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
