January<\/strong> 20,<\/strong> <\/em>Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em><\/strong> After receiving an invitation from US President Donald Trump for Ukraine to join the \u201cBoard of Peace\u201d for Gaza, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he could not imagine his country serving on the same body as Belarus and Russia.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussia is our enemy, and Belarus is its ally,\u201d he is quoted as saying, adding that Russia is more suited to be on \u201ca board of war.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington has invited about 50 countries to join the board. Bloomberg<\/em> reported that Trump has put the price that countries must pay for a permanent seat at $1 billion. Washington has denied it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board of Peace is part of Trump\u2019s 20-point plan to end the Israel\u2013Hamas war and is expected to temporarily oversee the administration of Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump invited Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka to act as a founder of the \u201cBoard of Peace\u201d for Gaza, Rus\u0142an Varanko\u016d, spokesman for the Belarusian foreign ministry, said on January 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe appreciate that the American side sees Belarus, as stated directly in the text of the appeal, as a state ready to assume the noble responsibility of building lasting peace, lead by the power of example and invest in a safe and prosperous future for coming generations,\u201d he said, noting that Minsk views the invitation as recognition of \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s merits and authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler has taken the invitation \u201cpositively,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur position is that we are ready to take part in the activities of the Board of Peace, taking into account and hoping that this organization will expand its framework and authority far beyond the mandate proposed in the initiative. This would enable it to participate actively in global processes to resolve international conflicts and, ultimately, to contribute to building a new security architecture, actively promoted by Belarus over the past few years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
