January 3, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Today\u2019s events in Venezuela represent a \u201cpainful blow to the regime in Minsk,\u201d Franak Via\u010dorka, an aide to Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja, has said on X following reports of US strikes against Venezuela and the capture of Nicolas Maduro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[Alaksandar] \u0141uka\u0161enka has lost one of his closest allies. Just as illegitimate as Maduro, he now sees his own future reflected there,\u201d the politician noted. \u201cNo dictatorship is eternal. Neither Russia nor China came to Maduro\u2019s rescue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venezuela will now face a challenge of securing a peaceful democratic transition and restoring the rule of law and justice, Via\u010dorka added. \u201cOur thoughts and prayers are with the Venezuelan people \u2014 they have earned their freedom,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, media reported on the United States strikes against Venezuela, which followed mounting pressure from Washington, a US military buildup in the Caribbean and strikes on small Venezuelan vessels accused of shipping drugs. US President Donald Trump said that Venezuela’s ruler Nicolas Maduro\u00a0and his wife were captured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maduro had been in power in Venezuela since 2013. Democratic countries sanctioned Venezuelan entities and individuals associated with his government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
