{"id":168309,"date":"2025-12-15T19:35:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T16:35:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/168309\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"release-of-hundred-political-prisoners-insufficient-step-rights-groups","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/168309\/","title":{"rendered":"Release of hundred political prisoners insufficient step \u2013 rights groups"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>December 15,\u00a0<em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The release of political prisoners this past weekend is an insufficient step as long as hundreds of human rights defenders, journalists, lawyers, activists and political opponents remain arbitrarily detained in Belarus for exercising their fundamental freedoms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fidh.org\/en\/region\/europe-central-asia\/belarus\/belarus-release-of-political-prisoners-is-a-necessary-but\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">said<\/a> 28 human rights organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement has been published by the International Federation for Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe undersigned organisations call on the Belarusian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all human rights defenders and political prisoners who have been arbitrarily detained, to put an end to judicial harassment and reprisals against civil society, and to repeal repressive legislation used to criminalise peaceful dissent and freedom of expression. The authorities must also ensure full rehabilitation, including the quashing of convictions and restoration of civil and political rights, for all those unlawfully detained for years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian ruler released 123 prisoners on December 13, most of them political opponents.
