December 8, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>At least 42 incidents involving drones have been reported in the Brest region alone this year, the BelPol resistance group said, citing a leaked document from a meeting of the Brest Regional Executive Committee three days ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials reportedly assess that risks, challenges and threats to national security are serious amid Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine, which Minsk has supported since 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the drone incidents were recorded in the Stolin district, close to the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. Other locations include Pinsk, Ivanava, Baranavi\u010dy, \u0141uniniec, Hancavi\u010dy, Ma\u0142aryta, Biaroza and Ivacevi\u010dy districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UAVs were carrying explosives, with one detonating on impact and two others safely neutralized by sapper units, according to the document. No civilian injuries or property damage have been documented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities reportedly do not have a standardized protocol for coordinating agency responses at UAV discovery sites, raising concerns about ensuring civilian safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has been experiencing drone incursions regularly since mid-2024 as the Russians attack Ukraine. This year, authorities have regularly tested the public warning system, particularly in the southern part of the country that faces frequent incursions by Russian drones targeting Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
