December 3, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Lithuanian Border Guard Service reported three separate seizures totaling more than 84,000 packs of contraband Belarusian cigarettes on December 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 23,500 packs bearing Belarusian excise duty stamps\u2014or no stamps at all\u2014were discovered at a company site in the Ma\u017eeikiai municipality on November 27\u201328. The company\u2019s owner was charged on December 1 and prohibited from leaving the country without official permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 2, border guards detained six individuals and seized four vehicles, 57,000 packs of cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps and nearly \u20ac30,000 in cash. The detainees are being held at a detention center for questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The value of the seized cigarettes amounts to \u20ac295,830. In a separate incident in the Var\u0117na municipality, border guards confiscated 3,560 packs of Minsk Capital QS and NZ Gold cigarettes with Belarusian excise duty stamps. The cigarettes, along with the taxes to be levied, are valued at \u20ac18,512. Two local residents have been arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
