November 1, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Investigative Committee\u2019s Salihorsk district department has opened a criminal investigation into an explosion at the state-owned potash miner Bie\u0142aru\u015bkalij that injured four workers on October 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspectors suspect officials of violating safety regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe investigation team continues to work at the scene,\u201d the committee said. \u201cInvestigators have seized technical and production documentation, scheduled examinations by experts and interrogated witnesses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victims are being treated for injuries of varying severity, the committee said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four workers were hospitalized with chemical burns and other injuries in the explosion of a hydrochloric acid container at the Salihorsk-based company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The injured workers were taken to Salihorsk\u2019s Central District Hospital, the health ministry said yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The explosion occurred at the electromembrane process shop, said the emergencies ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
