{"id":162038,"date":"2025-10-29T11:38:31","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T08:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/162038\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"reprisals-homiel-teacher-sentenced-on-extremism-charges","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/162038\/","title":{"rendered":"Reprisals: Homiel teacher sentenced on extremism charges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 29, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Human rights activists, authorities and journalists reported new cases of political repression in Belarus on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <em>Na\u0161a Niva<\/em>, Halina \u0141atuho\u016dskaja, a teacher based in Homiel, was sentenced to an unknown term by the Homiel Regional Court in 2025 for allegedly joining an extremist group, facilitating extremist activities, insulting the head of state and other \u201ccrimes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Viasna, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict against Wargaming co-founder Mika\u0142aj Kaca\u0142apa\u016d, who had received 13 years in a medium-security penal colony by decision of the Minsk City Court for allegedly financing extremism and terrorism. He was also fined 2.1 million rubels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On October 20, the Supreme Court declared the Lithuanian organization Gero kaimyno agent\u016bra (Good Neighbor Agency) extremist, the interior ministry reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Ministry of Information, the content of several information resources and social media pages was recognized as \u201cextremist.\u201d The websites partisanresults.com and belarus2020.org, as well as the TikTok page volyabela, were added to the blacklist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Human rights activists confirmed at least 111 arrests in the politically-motivated Bie\u0142aruski Hajun case, Viasna reported.
