August 31, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Swiss train manufacturer Stadler said it did not agree to supply trains to the Belarusian Railways due to sanctions, Office Life<\/em> reports, citing a written statement from the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stadler stressed that it minimized its activities in Belarus to fully comply with sanctions, noting that neither the delivery of trains to Belarus nor the production of trains in Belarus is currently possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement appears to contradict a recent claim by Belarusian Railways executive Alaksandar Chara\u0161evi\u010d, who announced a forthcoming contract with Stadler for the delivery of 65 trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stadler has operated an assembly plant in Belarus since 2014. In May 2022, the company announced the transfer of some orders to other countries because of the European Union\u2019s sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years ago, Stadler denied plans to close its plant in Belarus, noting that it operated in strict compliance with all sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
