August 28, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Teachers of physics and mathematics as well as primary school teachers are in high demand, Iryna Kar\u017eova of the Belarusian education ministry has said ahead of the start of the new academic year yet did not specify any numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schools are addressing staff shortages by increasing teacher workloads, hiring over 3,000 recent graduates and bringing in final-year teaching students to work under the guidance of experienced colleagues, the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 28, the official job bank listed 974 open positions for teachers, 1,868 for educators and 542 for instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of teachers and academics resigned for political reasons and fled Belarus after the 2020 postelection protests. The government is reluctant to acknowledge the staff shortage problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
