August 24, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Ukraine and Russia have once again exchanged prisoners of war using Belarusian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Russian defense ministry, each country handed over 146 prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Russia got back eight residents of its Kursk province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Russian servicemen are receiving psychological and medical care in Belarus, the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It pointed out that the exchange was carried out with the United Arab Emirates\u2019 mediation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous prisoner swap in Belarus was reported on August 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to that, Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners on July 4 and also carried out six swaps in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these cases, the exchanges occurred once in January, February, March and April, and also four times in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine and Russia have conducted 17 prisoner swaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all of 2024, the two countries officially conducted 12 exchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with Belarusian state television aired on June 22, Belarusian KGB Chairman Ivan Tertel stated that by that time, 38 exchange operations involving Ukraine and Russia had been conducted in his country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 24, 2022, Moscow started a full-scale war against Ukraine with the backing of the Belarusian regime, which allowed Russian troops to stage an offensive on Kyiv from its territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
