August 22, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The interior ministry has added 42 new names to the list of \u201cpersons involved in extremist activities,\u201d taking the total of entries to 5,663, its website says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of them is Valeryj Ivanin reportedly accused of insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and officials. The interior ministry indicated the charge against him as inciting hatred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others are Maryja Barysienka, Via\u010das\u0142a\u016d Bierastavy, D\u017amitryj Ma\u0142acha\u016d and Volha Mika\u0142ajeva, serving terms on charges ranging from inciting hatred to association with an extremist group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sentences of 37 individuals remain incomplete, the ministry said, implying that they may serve non-custodial sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzianis Sa\u0107, Siarhiej Navasielski, Valancin Klebanovi\u010d, Rus\u0142an Astapovi\u010d and Natalla I\u0161mukava faced charges of inciting hatred, insulting \u0141uka\u0161enka and other similar accusations. The rest was found guilty of violent disorder, which may be linked to their participation in the 2020 postelection protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are Alisa Ni\u010dypar, Inha Bielanava, Pavie\u0142 Bazan, Ivan Zin\u010danka, Kim Badyt\u010dyk, Alaksandar Harcuje\u016d, D\u017amitryj Sakovi\u010d, An\u017ealika Eke, Kanstancin Kavalo\u016d, Andrej Bujalski, U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d Rudako\u016dski, Beata \u0160\u010duckaja, Alaksandar Ramanovi\u010d, Andrej Ihisina\u016d, Alesia Krepskaja, Ihar Fohiele\u016d, \u017dana Maksimava, Anastasija Socha\u0144, Vital Ivano\u016d, Kiry\u0142 Akuli\u010d, Alaksandar Rakovi\u010d, Rus\u0142an Harmatny, Anton Chramiela, Mikita Kiry\u0142ovi\u010d, Michai\u0142 Stocik, Anatol Jancevi\u010d, Ta\u0107ciana Klimanskaja-Ku\u010dyc, Alena Klimanskaja, Jana \u0160alamickaja, D\u017amitryj \u0160akalida, Jahor Ciu\u0161kievi\u010d and D\u017amitryj Siankievi\u010d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People placed on the list of individuals involved in extremist activities are banned from any education- and publishing-related activity, as well as from holding state positions and from doing military service, for five years after completing their sentences or after the related conviction is deleted from the criminal record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their financial transactions are subject to close monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the crackdown on the 2020 postelection protests, authorities in Belarus equated criticism, solidarity, advocacy, the free media and free expression to extremism and terrorism.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
