August 17, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarus expects to receive four Su-30SM2 fighter jets from Russia by the end of 2025, Andrej Ra\u010dko\u016d of the Air\/Air Defense forces has told the state-run Belarus 1 <\/em>TV channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement comes after a fresh shipment of Su-30SM2 earlier this week. The official justified the need for this equipment by the intensification of NATO airspace surveillance near Belarus, claiming that reconnaissance aircraft were flying as many as 12 missions daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NATO tactical aviation from Poland and other NATO countries is analyzing the situation in Belarus amid concerns over the country\u2019s combat readiness, the official said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Su-30SM2, an upgraded variant of the original Su-30SM, is reportedly equipped with longer-range guns, improved engines and has double the detection range of the Su-30SM, its predecessor that has been in service with the Belarusian Air\/Air Defense Forces for several years. Russia sold at least eight Sukhoi Su-30SM aircraft to Belarus in 2019 and 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Su-30SM2 has a detachable wing with fuel tank inside to facilitate transportation by cargo aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
