July 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Lithuanian Foreign Minister K\u0119stutis Budrys has said that Vilnius does not consider easing its sanctions aimed at weakening Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn the contrary, we are considering where to expand this circle [of sanctions] and what other measures of influence to apply,\u201d Budrys told journalists, as quoted<\/a> by Delfi<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that Seimas deputies spreading unfounded rumors do not attend our sessions, where we could talk. Now, they are blowing a bubble, as if something is brewing here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister did not name any MPs spreading false rumors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nor did he elaborate on the proposal from the Bulk Cargo Terminal (Biri\u0173 krovini\u0173 terminalas, BKT) in the Port of Klaip\u0117da to reach a settlement and resume the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will not go into detail, because another aspect of publicity is that we are undergoing an arbitration process, which will consider everything that is in the public space. I am interested in discussing this situation in a succinct, clear and legally substantiated manner. I can say that various comments are harming Lithuania,\u201d Budrys stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Vilnius called any talk of resuming the transit of Belarusian fertilizers pointless because, even without Western sanctions, the transit can be prohibited by Lithuanian law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania halted transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers in 2021 over the Belarusian government’s attacks on human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
