July 28, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Lithuania\u2019s Air Force had tracked the drone that violated the country’s airspace this morning while it was in Belarusian airspace; information was shared with the NATO Combined Air Operations Centers, the Lithuanian Army has said on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the post, the most likely theory is that the aircraft was disoriented by Ukrainian air defenses, \u201cbut all possible versions will be investigated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Military and other officers are searching for the drone. Its discovery will be followed by demining and investigative activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The army said it will not change its posture for now. However, since this is the second such incursion, and the likelihood of deliberate incursions is growing ahead of the Zapad-2025 exercise, decisions are being made to deploy air defense systems in areas where incursions are most likely to occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn peacetime, sky is filled with civil aircraft, and for now, shooting down aircraft is only contemplated in exceptional cases near particularly important facilities covered by air defense systems on duty,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Delfi <\/em>portal, the Lithuanian foreign ministry has stated that if the aircraft is proved to have had a military purpose, diplomats will protest the incident to the Belarusian embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
