July 21, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Investigative Committee has completed an investigation and is looking to arrest the leader of a sect operating in several countries and blacklisted as an extremist group in Belarus, its press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victims were lured to remote villages in the Hrodna and Viciebsk regions, told to give up their IDs, sever ties with the outside world and their families and forced to make large \u201cdonations\u201d as the entrance ticket to the sect, investigators said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Potential members were incited to pledge allegiance to a non-existent emperor and reject the current government, they added, noting that police stopped all illegal activities. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sect’s five leaders face criminal charges and are held in custody, while the head of the sect’s Belarusian branch is wanted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Investigative Committee\u2019s message indicated that the sect in question may be the Russian Orthodox Church\u2013Tsarist Empire cult. Police arrested 11 of its members last August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cult, which is not associated with the Russian Orthodox Church, wants to establish a triune state, denies the existence of Belarus and Russia and seeks to dethrone Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to media reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
