July 16, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Polish defense minister has expressed concern that irregular migrants trying to cross into his country from Belarus have become increasingly aggressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAggression on the eastern border is escalating,\u201d W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on X. \u201cSoldiers have been attacked not only with stones but also with bottles filled with flammable liquid. Each such attack is an attack on the Polish state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister recalled that soldiers have a right to use weapons against particularly aggressive migrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Polish interior ministry also reported that after 10:00 p.m. yesterday, migrants threw stones and a petrol bomb at officers. The bottle fell on the road, injuring no one, it said. Ten foreigners, including Afghans and Eritreans, were arrested.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Polish interior ministry spokesman tweeted that the incident could not have happened without the consent of Belarusian secret services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The migration crisis at the Belarusian-EU border has been ongoing since spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent people from Africa and Asia from traveling through Belarus to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 western neighbors call the crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
