July 4, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Belarus has hosted the 15th prisoner-of-war swap between Ukraine and Russia in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the exchanged Ukrainians have been held by Russia since 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media, noting that some were civilians. “The exchanges must continue, and I thank everyone who is ensuring this. Ukraine’s goal is to release all our people from Russian captivity,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian servicemen released by Kyiv are receiving psychological and medical assistance in Belarus pending their transfer to Russia, the Russian defense ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar Luka\u0161enka authorizes all exchanges taking place in Belarus, while the Committee for State Security (KGB) is responsible for coordination, KGB chief Ivan Tertel said last month in a rare public comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the start of 2025, Russia and Ukraine have held 15 PoW swaps in Belarus, including six in June alone. Last year, both countries reported 12 official prisoner exchanges. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
