July 20, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has taken to Twitter (X) to thank Spain for supporting the International Humanitarian Foundation for Belarusian political prisoners and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tweet follows her meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Jos\u00e9 Manuel Albares. \u201cWe discussed the geopolitical situation, new EU sanctions, peace talks and Belarus\u2019 role,\u201d the opposition leader said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s office, she visited Spain on July 19-20. There, she met with former NATO Secretary General Javier Solana, who has chaired the Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics since 2010, as well as Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo Gonz\u00e1lez. She also met with members of the Spanish Parliament\u2019s international affairs committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She called on Spanish deputies to help legalize exiled Belarusians, promote the release of Belarusian political prisoners at international venues and support the pro-democracy forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Humanitarian Foundation was established in 2024, with Norway as the first contributor. Its areas of focus include medical, financial and psychological assistance to released political prisoners and other victims of political reprisals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
