June 10, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> After inspecting Bie\u0142aru\u015bfilm, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka gave the CEO until September to fix all problems that plague the state film production company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRemember, you will not get extra cash. No-one will give you money for a new team. If, led by the culture minister, you don\u2019t put things in order here before September 1, you will face the toughest decisions. Hope not that we will simply dismiss you,\u201d \u0141uka\u0161enka told D\u017amitry Siamiona\u016d, whom he appointed as CEO on March 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler also advised the studio to make more modern movies. \u201cSure, we should remember our roots, as Bie\u0142aru\u015bfilm has a good past. But we should adapt to modernity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, \u0141uka\u0161enka gave Siamiona\u016d a dressing-down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government has created conditions for film production and Bie\u0142aru\u015bfilm in particular, but \u201cthe return so far is not just zero, but below zero. . . The Belarusian ruler made public funding conditional on the production of \u201chigh-quality successful movies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Film production and the allocation of funds require \u201cironclad control,\u201d \u0141uka\u0161enka stressed. \u201cWe give you one rubel, you return two,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
