May 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> A massive leak from the Pravfond foundation, which defends the rights of Russians living abroad, has revealed that the Kremlin has been generously sponsoring its “puppets” in Belarus for a long time, Buro <\/em>reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“According to our calculations, Pravfond has allocated approximately $400,000 to projects in Belarus over the last five years. Pro-Russian activists in Belarus, backed by the Kremlin, are threatening the independence of our country,” the investigative website said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said that access to the secret documents was obtained by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, which shared the information with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aforementioned Kremlin foundation financed various projects in Belarus, from propaganda literature and roundtables to the Legal Advice Center in Minsk, from covering legal expenses for a detained activist to backing a museum of Soviet monuments removed from Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundations’ activities have especially intensified after the crackdown on the 2020 protests in Belarus, the website said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It called the office of the Soyuz movement in central Minsk, where St. George ribbons are distributed and humanitarian aid for the Russian military is collected, “a bastion of the Russian world.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also pointed to the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots (CCRC), linked to the embassy. The council includes about three dozen organizations. In addition to Soyuz, these are lesser-known pro-Russian forces like the Russian House, the Russian Society, the Donbass Association of Fellow Countrymen, the Crimean Association of Fellow Countrymen and the Cossack Culture Centre, the website said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CCRC is headed by Andrej Hiera\u0161\u010danka (Andrey Gerashchenko), a former history teacher and Viciebsk official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The CCRC has a website aptly named Together with Russia, which publishes Russian propaganda,” Buro said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CCRC deputy chairman Andrey Lopatsky, a lawyer from Sevastopol, established the Crimean Association of Fellow Countrymen in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf of the association, Lopatsky signed a cooperation agreement with officials from the Russian-occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
