May 17, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Norway’s unwavering commitment to democracy, freedom and human rights inspires Belarusians and all those fighting for these values around the world, \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja said, congratulating the Norwegians on Constitution Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Thank you for your steadfast solidarity!” the politician said on X, adding in Norwegian, “Gratulerer med dagen, Norge!” (“Congratulations on your day, Norway!”)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, the Conservative Party of Norway awarded the Belarusian opposition leader the Sjur Lindebr\u00e6kke Memorial Prize for the promotion of democracy and human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician has visited Norway on several occasions, most recently in October 2024. Speaking in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting, Cichano\u016dskaja called for action to support the Belarusian political prisoners. She also discussed cooperation within the Nordic-Baltic Eight at a meeting with Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a congratulatory message to the people of Norway this morning, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka expressed a hope for blossoming development of the Belarusian-Norwegian partnership. He was confident that they would find a way to restore “a full-fledged dialog for the benefit of both states” despite the “artificial barriers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
