April 22, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian ambassador to Israel, Jury Jara\u0161evi\u010d, has announced the resumption of Bie\u0142avija’s direct flights to the Middle Eastern country, The Jerusalem Post<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He made the announcement yesterday in a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, to whom he presented his credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 30, 2022, the EU-sanctioned Bie\u0142avija reported that Israeli aviation authorities had refused to service its aircraft at Ben Gurion Airport. Recently, passengers from Minsk have mainly flown via Baku or Tbilisi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the president’s remark that his wife’s family comes from Belarus, the ambassador pointed out that Herzog’s great-grandfather, a rabbi, studied at the renowned Va\u0142o\u017eyn Yeshiva, which was renovated and reopened last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jara\u0161evi\u010d said he would be honored if Herzog visited that town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Herzog expressed an interest in doing so, which gave Jara\u0161evi\u010d an opening to say that no president of Israel has ever visited Belarus, but a president of Belarus came to Israel in 2000,” the website said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
