April 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka did not congratulate the Syrian leadership on the recent national Evacuation Day, according to Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of reports from the Belarusian ruler’s press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The holiday commemorates the departure of the last French soldier from Syria, marking the end of the French mandate on April 17, 1946.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka’s press office had posted greetings to President Bashar al-Assad on this day for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, however, only the upper house chairwoman congratulated the country, particularly Hammouda Sabbagh, al-Assad’s former top lawmaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Belarusian-Syrian friendship has stood the test of time,” Natalla Ka\u010danava asserted, according to the Belarusian Council of the Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today, our states defend their national interests and a fair world order free from oppression and colonialism on international platforms. Together, we oppose the illegal sanctions policy and resist attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian senator stressed the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the current situation, “as it helps strengthen the Belarusian-Syrian interstate dialogue and coordinate positions on all issues of mutual interest.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2024, international media reported the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria. Assad and his family members have fled to Moscow and gained asylum there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in December, \u0141uka\u0161enka accused the West of fueling the situation in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
