April 12, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>The global import tariffs introduced by US President Donald Trump will not affect prices in Belarus, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka told journalists in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Nothing will grow for us because of this,” he said, according to a semi-official Telegram channel. “It will now be difficult to sell products on the American market. These products will spread all over the world, including here. We are experiencing such barriers and tariffs with Russia that it’s the limit.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 2, Trump signed an executive order imposing new tariffs on all goods entering the US. Nearly all former Soviet countries were affected, except for Belarus and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After days of market turmoil and warnings of recession, he announced a 90-day pause for most countries except China. Overall, Trump has imposed 145 percent tariffs on Chinese goods since taking office. Yesterday, China raised its tariffs on US products to 125 percent, The Guardian<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economist Ale\u015b Alachnovi\u010d highlights <\/a>that the new trade war has intensified deglobalization, strengthened regional alliances and deepened Belarus’ dependence on Russia due to geopolitical shifts. He also warns of the trade war’s negative impact on global demand, oil prices and Belarus’ economic stability, potentially limiting Russian subsidies in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
