April 1, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> “Despite the difficult situation” connected to the disappearance of Coordination Council (CC) speaker An\u017ealika Mielnikava, the body continues to work as usual, acting speaker Stasia Hli\u0144nik said at its session on April 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The online conference was streamed on the body’s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hli\u0144nik pointed out that “the last text contact” with Mielnikava was in the morning of March 25. Currently, her whereabouts are unknown. “According to Polish law-enforcement agencies, the search continues and, unfortunately, it has not produced any result so far,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She recalled that a CC task force monitoring and responding to the Mielnikava situation was formed and held its inaugural meeting on March 30. It is led by Alaksandar Par\u0161anko\u016d of the Our Cause faction, who heads the council’s standing committee on students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The group’s task is to conduct real-time monitoring, gather and verify information, inform members of the CC and the public, and prepare response scenarios in case this or that turn of events is confirmed,” Hli\u0144nik said. “The group is processing all available data, including the report that on March 19, the mobile phone\u2026 of Mielnikava was in Belarusian territory.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We insist that now we must focus on the main thing, the safety of life and health of An\u017ealika and her daughters,” the acting speaker said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Hli\u0144nik, “The group pointed out the need to improve the CC funding mechanism to ensure its stable work and additional security measures for all Coordination Council members.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She called on the media and the public to “draw their conclusions only from confirmed facts established during an official investigation, be extremely responsible about interpreting the current situation, and not disseminate unconfirmed information.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 28, the office of National Anti-Crisis Management leader Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka told Pozirk <\/em>that Mielnikava is not in Poland and hasn’t been in touch since March 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her powers have been temporarily transferred to Hli\u0144nik, the deputy speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 29, Polish interior ministry spokesman Jacek Dobrzy\u0144ski said Polish law-enforcement agencies have received information that members of the Belarusian Coordination Council (CC) have been unable to contact its speaker An\u017ealika Mielnikava for several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 1, \u0141atu\u0161ka’s Telegram reported that there are no new details about the whereabouts of the CC speaker or the circumstances of her disappearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mielnikava was elected speaker of the third Coordination Council on July 11, 2024. She represented the faction Team \u0141atu\u0161ka and Movement for Freedom, which significantly outpaced other factions by the number of votes and eventually took 28 of 80 seats in the CC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
