March 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The US government “is considering issuing sweeping travel restrictions for the citizens of dozens of countries,” Reuters<\/em> reported <\/a>yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It cited an internal memo listing 41 countries divided into three groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first group, with Iran and North Korea, may face a full visa suspension. The second group, including Eritrea and South Sudan \u2013 a partial suspension affecting tourist and student visas, as well as other immigrant visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Countries from the third group, such as Belarus and Turkmenistan, may be subject to a partial suspension of US visa issuance if their governments “do not make efforts to address deficiencies within 60 days,” according to the memo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A US official speaking on the condition of anonymity cautioned there could be changes on the list and that it was yet to be approved by the administration, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio,” said Reuters<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On January 20, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order requiring enhanced vetting of all foreign nationals seeking entry into the US to detect national security threats. This initiative builds on Trump’s earlier travel bans and reflects his broader immigration crackdown during his second term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
