March 14, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The interior ministry has added 28 new names to the list of \u201cpersons involved in extremist activities,\u201d taking the total of entries to 5,051, its website says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All blacklisted persons were convicted on charges that authorities use to persecute political opponents. Rights groups added Alena Marozava, Andrej Slizievi\u010d, Viciebsk doctor Alaksandar Randarenka and Maksim Jerma\u0142ovi\u010d to their list of political prisoners. Jerma\u0142ovi\u010d went on trial last month on charges of association with an extremist group and insulting officials but the result remains unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slizievi\u010d, convicted of inciting hatred, insulting and defaming Alaksadar \u0141uka\u0161enka, also features on the official terrorist register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New additions to the extremist list include Ihar \u0160\u0142oma and Maksim Padterehier, convicted for participating in protests. Alaksiej Miad\u017aviedzie\u016d and D\u017amitryj Hra\u010do\u016d are serving terms on defamation charges. Maksim Stara\u015bcienka, Alaksiej \u0160pako\u016dski, Andrej Ko\u0142b, Aleh Samarodski and Alaksandar Kiendy\u015b were convicted on charges ranging from inciting hatred and calling for sanctions to rioting and association with opposition groups that Belarusian officials branded extremist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Criminal records of Siarhiej \u0160unievi\u010d, Andrej Falko\u016d, Anastasija Rudnova, Alina Karalova, Ihar Ju\u0161kevi\u010d, Maryja Mielnik, D\u017amitryj Hacko, Andrej Sida\u010denka, U\u0142adzimir Cichi, Stanis\u0142a\u016d Hara\u010do\u016d, Raman Ramaniuk, Vadzim Dudzin, Alaksiej Chadnievi\u010d, Siarhiej Michalevi\u010d and Viktoryja Ko\u0142b have not been expunged, which may mean they are serving non-custodial sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People placed on the list of individuals involved in extremist activities are banned from any education- and publishing-related activity, as well as from holding state positions and from doing military service, for five years after completing their sentences or after the related conviction is deleted from the criminal record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their financial transactions are subject to close monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
